The song, "Tai Chi Magic," by Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang, was composed specifically for the Shaolin Chi Mantis Demo Team. Using this song, the performers could perform the Tai Chi Short Form, synchronized together, without having to see each other.
This MEDIUM SPEED song is an excellent speed for performing as it still flows at a gentle pace without being too slow and boring for the audience.
Since Shaolin Chi Mantis requires all students to breathe during this Tai Chi Form in a vary specific pattern, the music also provides a breathing speed template of two beats per each inhale, and two beats for each exhale.
All the songs on this CD have been used in some performance, tournament, or Chinese New Years celebration by Buddha Zhen and his students. During the 1990s, cassettes were sold of this album.
With additional instruments added at the Shaolin Records Tujunga Recording Studio in 2008, this album was remixed and remastered in digital from its original analog masters.
Beginner level Tai Chi students may find this to be either too fast--if they are not practicing enough; or too slow--if they are in bad health.
When you can perform your Yang Style or Chen or other style of Tai Chi at this speed, you have accomplished the first basic level of Tai Chi Practitioner.
The next album of mine will be TAI CHI MAGIC 2 -- THE 8 BROCADE. I plan to have a slower or faster Tai Chi song on this record. Probably faster so you'll get your feet to pivot on the heels using your waist more...
